PDF Compressor

Reduce PDF file size by specifying an exact byte budget (1 MB, 2 MB) or choosing quality presets. Our adaptive multi-tier algorithm automatically optimizes raster DPI and compression matrices until your document lands within target.

3. Compression Settings

Range: 0.1 MB to 100 MB

Output will strictly stay under 1.00 MB. The engine recalibrates dynamically to achieve target budget.

Target and Raster presets rasterize pages to achieve major compression (50–90% reduction). To keep searchable/selectable text intact, select Safe Optimization.

Leave empty to preserve original filename + -compressed suffix.

How PDF Compression Works

FileStudio employs two optimization models. Safe Mode normalizes the document tree, strips orphaned metadata objects, and deflates stream buffers without rasterization — leaving all text selectable. This typically yields a 5–30% reduction.

Target & Raster Mode renders pages at calculated DPI tiers, evaluates sample footprint via linear extrapolation, and rebuilds the PDF binary within your specified byte budget. This yields 60–95% reduction, ideal for document uploads and email attachments.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the output file be strictly within my chosen target size?
Yes. The compression pipeline estimates page budgets, compiles the PDF, and verifies the actual byte footprint. If the output exceeds the target, it steps down to the next tier and recompiles automatically.
Is print fidelity maintained after compression?
At 150–200 DPI, documents retain high clarity for desktop printing. For web submissions or email, 96–140 DPI produces minimal file sizes with crisp on-screen rendering.
Are confidential documents secure?
Completely. All rendering and binary transformations run strictly in local browser memory. No network packets containing your document are ever transmitted.
